Bring Color to Your Life with The Spectrum Collection by In Your Dreams

If Pride is a moment to celebrate individuality, express the way you want to be seen and appreciate what makes everyone different, it makes sense that makeup is involved.. right?

So earlier this year we teamed up with our good friends at AKT Charity to create our new Spectrum Collection for Pride featuring a range of products hand designed by our CEO, Madeline Griffiths! 10% of all profits from The Spectrum Collection are donated to AKT.

We were also FINALLY back creating colourful looks with our new products at events earlier this year!

Our new Pride collection includes three products: Rainbow Drip Face Gems, Raining Rainbow Paint Stick, and Rainbow Peacock Loose Gem Box. These three products have been designed in-house to reflect all the 11 colours in the new Progress Pride Flag. So wear the jewels and serve rainbow realness. Be bold, loud and proud!

It was really important to us to choose a charity who does good and helps those within the LGBTQ+ society, and AKT really stood out to us. We had lovely chats with AKT, and were happy to collaborate.

AKT supports LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 in the UK who are experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. They support young people into safe homes and employment, education or training, in a welcoming and open environment that celebrates lgbtq+ identities.

2021 EVENTS

With large celebrations for Pride 2020 put to a halt, we were over the moon this year when things began to slowly pick back up and we were able to paint all your lovely faces.

We have a large extended team (who we are SO glad to be reunited with) of freelance models, content creators, makeup-artists, stylists, and more, all allies or within the LGTQ+ society. All of whom bring SO much to everything we do and are at the core of IYD.

GLITTERBOX

We regularly work and collaborate with brands who align with our ethos such as Glitterbox... When we think of Glitterbox we think inclusivity, belonging, and inclusion. We think of dancing like no-one is watching, no judgement whatsoever. Family. A place of belonging. That’s something that is special and we are so proud to be a part of it!

Our last ever event pre lockdown was Glitterbox at PrintWorks, and we were so glad to be back at for Defected at Drumsheds event in September - it went OFF! Our lovely team of artists were there giving away free glitter makeovers to customers as part of their entry ticket, our MUA’s also created Keith Haring/Grace Jones esque makeovers on all of the performers.

DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH

We also caught up with our lovely customer Lizzie who is living with Crohns, HSD and dysautonomia to talk to us about Disability Pride month, what it means to her and other people who are disabled.

There are 14.1 million people in the UK reported to have a disability. Not every disability is visible and not everyone who is disabled was born with it or is old. In fact, 19% of the working age population are disabled!

A few important tips from Lizzie :

1. Not all disabilities are visible - don’t make any assumptions about anyone who is disabled. We are all different and just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.

2. It’s really important to be aware of our own internalised ableism, and to work hard on unlearning these traits ingrained within us because of society

3. Research and ask, rather than make assumptions. It’s incredibly important that you don’t assume anything about someone who is disabled.

4. Treat EVERY SINGLE disabled person as an individual, because we all are.

SOUTHERN COMFORT - SINK THE PINK

We also partnered with Southern Comfort for their Sink The Pink Pride Party this past September. We had a team of artists who were giving away free glitter services to customers as part of their ticket. The Voguing performers on stage and the incredible DJs: Melanie Blatt, Mark-Ashley Dupé and Raven Mandella made for an unforgettable party. The iconic Miss Taylor Trash and sensational Soroya Marchelle joined us at the event as well, bringing life to the colorful boat party!

We continue to celebrate Pride not just during Pride, but every single day!
